Gender: Non-Conforming

In the 1980's, I photographed nudes of male-to-female transsexuals and triptychs of transvestites and drag queens.  This series resulted in Edition Stemmle publishing my monograph, 'Male-to-Female (La Cage Aux Folles)' in 1995. 

Beginning in 2019 and on-going, I returned to photographing the much broader spectrum of the new frontier of gender.  Discovering many existing variations, I began the journey to enlighten myself and others, with my photographs. 

Today, humans are living their lives outside of the binary definitions of man or women, masculine or feminine.  The definite gender identity doesn't make sense to/for them to live comfortably with the social rules about gender. 

This series concentrates on the new frontier of gender - Trans, Nonbinary, Drag Queens, Drag Kings, GNC (Gender Non-conforming) and Other.  It's all about sexual stereotypes, the making, the breaking and reshaping of those roles.  My photographs can be viewed as accepting the manifestations within us all and remember that we are all, different, unique and beautiful.
